LESSON 1
5 mins Starter What is collage? Group discussion to answer the question.
Learning objectives (this week you will):
1. Experiment with collage techniques including cutting, tearing, layering.
2. Use coloured paper, newspapers, magazines, photocopies of any printed materials (leaflets etc) that you collected at Tilgate or photocopies of Tilgate photos to create a series of collage based imagery.
20 mins Task 1: Collage background
1. Create a background using collage technique. Try to keep it as random as you can. Cover at least half a page in your sketchbook.
2. Use art materials on top of your background to distress and dull it down. Pencil, pastel or watercolour work best. Try smudging materials if you can.
You will scan your background to experiment with it in Photoshop next lesson.

Create an abstract collage using natural shapes: circles, curves etc. Look at the shapes in the imagery you've collected so far.
