LESSON 1

Learning Objectives (this lesson you will):

1. Discuss what makes a successful leaflet design

2. Mindmap ideas for your own leaflet outcome

3. Research possible content for your leaflet outcome
4. Review ideas and research 

This week and next week you will be designing a leaflet to accompany your poster to promote Tilgate Park.

Your leaflet will be printed on double sided A4 paper 

and folded into 3 sections.

10 mins Starter: Your thoughts

As a whole group, pass around and take a look at the leaflet examples provided. What works well and why? What doesn't work well and why?

15 mins Mindmap

Look at the leaflet examples provided and in your sketchbook create a group mindmap of ideas for your leaflet content. Consider the following points:

• Target audience
• Specific leaflet themes (ie kids, conservation, fitness, seasonal etc)
• Possible imagery
• Key information
• Materials/techniques

LESSON 2

30 mins Tilgate research

In pairs, use the internet to research Tilgate and what ideas you might include in your leaflet. Use the mindmap as a guide and find out as much information as you can. Also use the leaflet examples to help you.

Present in your sketchbook a written proposal for your leaflet. Include the following:

• Who you will target
• Your leaflet theme
• What images you might use (own photos, own artwork)
• What information you will include
• what materials/techniques you'll use
• How you leaflet will compliment/relate to your poster

Peer assessment
Complete the assessment sheets provided to identify areas of work to improve to meet M&D criteria wherever possible.

Layout ideas

Use the templates to draw out ideas for your leaflet layout. Think about where you'll position:

• Front cover- main information & images
• Other imagery- photos, illustrations, maps
• Information about Tilgate- how will you inform and attract visitors?
• Factual information- how to get there, website etc
• Other graphic imagery- borders, boxes etc
• Your Tilgate logo

Complete a written evaluation for your final poster design using the questions below to help you.
