Graphics week 13: Review of progress

P2 M2 D2 use graphic media, techniques and technology to meet a design brief (coherently & independently)

Learning Objectives (this lesson you will):
1. Discuss and record how successful the project has been
2. Complete peer assessment to identify areas of strength and weakness
3. Individually set targets to assist completion of the project
4. Review discussion and record any further thoughts

10 mins Starter: Your thoughts
As a whole group, discuss and record your thoughts about the Tilgate project.
On 1 sheet of paper record what's gone well
and on a 2nd sheet what could have gone better.
Nominate a person from the group to write on each sheet on behalf of the rest of the group as you discuss.

30 mins Group assessment
Use the assessment sheets provided to complete a peer assessment as instructed by the teacher.
Identify areas where you're missing opportunities for merit and distinction criteria. Stick this sheet in the back of your sketchbook as a record.

15 mins Individual target setting
Set targets to complete the project. Remember that this unit focuses on the use of graphic materials, techniques and technologies so your targets should focus on any of the following areas:

  • Save your completed poster design (including your logo) in the poster folder on the server
  • Save your completed leaflet design (including your logo) in the leaflet folder on the server
  • Complete annotations throughout your book to emphasise your use of graphic materials, techniques and technologies
  • Complete any outstanding evaluations and reviews that explain your use of graphic materials, techniques and technologies
  • Complete any outstanding analysis of artists and their work (comparing their use of graphic materials, techniques and technologies with your own)
Aim to have 3 targets to complete or improve your work. Identify any specific tasks that you need to complete or revisit to boost your marks. Improvements could be:
  • Improving techniques to improve your outcomes
  • Writing more in-depth (more research or more personal response)
  • Including more images as examples of artwork (comparing them to your own work)
Record your targets in the back of your book so you can
refer to them and they can be reviewed next lesson.

10 mins Plenary
Having reviewed your progress and discussed the project, can you add anything else to the 2 sheets from the start of the lesson? Do you all agree with what's been written?
