Photo WK:2 - lesson:1 and 2

In this lesson you will:

1. Investigate photographic media, techniques and technology by being introduced to the work of others – making connections to own personal ideas in compositional studies that link to prior learning
2. Use photographic media, techniques and technology safely by making multi layered photograms
3. Know about the characteristics and properties of photographic materials and understand own use of photographic media, techniques and technology by recording techniques, processes and timings in sketchbooks in evaluative plenary

STARTER:

Learners shown work of AS Photography students and discuss use of materials and techniques (10mins)

TASK:1 

Teacher to conduct demonstration on using old photographs in darkroom, using newspaper and photocopy prints.  Teacher to advise on use of darkroom paper (10mins)

TASK:2 

Learners record initial ideas in response to demonstration on quick A5 compositional studies to be placed into sketchbooks later for homework. (10mins)

Extension:

Extend learner higher order understanding by discussing how to make your response more personal and discussing use of innovative techniques

TASK:3

Learners to use multiple layered exposure with travel objects, photocopies of old postcards, holiday photos and magazine cuttings to make multi exposure images (30mins)

TASK:4: PLENARY 

Plenary to review progress.  Learners to review own progress in darkroom, set targets and place with or next to compositional studies for use in homework tassk (5mins)

In this SECOND PART of the lesson you will:

1. Use photographic media, techniques and technology safely by making multi layered photograms
2. Know about the characteristics and properties of photographic materials and understand own use of photographic media, techniques and technology by recording techniques, processes and timings in sketchbooks in evaluative plenary

STARTER:

Learners to use review to set targets (5mins)

TASK:1 

Learners to continue to use review to expand knowledge and process of multiple layered exposure with travel objects, photocopies of old postcards, holiday photos and magazine cuttings to make multi exposure images (45mins)

Extension:

Extend learner higher order understanding by displaying personal use of innovative techniques

TASK:2 PLENARY

Plenary to review progress and what has been done in lesson to further refine techniques and processes (15mins)
