Bite The Ballot Week 1-Communicating to the Masses!





LESSON AIMS: (in this lesson you will)

1 Understand the structure of the project and task for next two weeks 
2 To discuss, in groups, reactions to messages and meanings in the work of others
3 To feedback findings and discuss as a class further points of interest

STARTER: 5mins Short introduction to: COMMUNICATING TO THE MASSES! (Coulsdon College Student Union poster)

The first task fo this project will last for 2 weeks, where you will look at Russian Constructivism, Barbra Kruger and Shepard Fairey and complete over two pages in a sketchbook that records similarities in aesthetics, communication and context. You will will then research images used in voting posters, photograph images needed to complete own posters and complete two pages of design drawings and a final design realized in Photoshop.  Final posters will be displayed in college, photographed and evaluated for

DEADLINE 6th MAY.

MAIN TASK: 30mins Looking at the work of others
Divide into 3 groups.  Each group picks an artist to look at, research and record in mind maps. Feedback your findings to the group in 15min plenary that discusses your findings and lets group expand on your ideas.

(Think about what messages and meanings the artists want to put across, what is the target audience, what are the communication techniques?)
