Bite The Ballot Week 3 - RICHARD HAMILTON

Lesson Aims:

To research Richard Hamilton's exhibition at the Tate Gallery in first lesson
To record findings in a 1 page introduction to your gallery visit in first lesson and refine page in second lesson
To discuss further considerations and record as an extension press cuttings on exhibition and further connections to the work of others

Richard Hamilton

Main Task:Lesson 1
Discuss the video you have just seen.  Then make a one page visual introduction to Richard Hamilton's exhibition at the Tate Modern Gallery. This introduction must include the following:

TITLE: RICHARD HAMILTON EXHIBITION
LOCATION DETAILS: TATE MODERN (with maps and how to get there details)
EXPLANATION: Write, in your own words, what the exhibition is about and use some visual references from the Tate Gallery website on images that will be in the exhibition.

Extension: Look at the work of Pop artists, how does Richard Hamilton relate to them? Include pictures and explanation of the link between Hamilton and Pop Art.

Main Task:Lesson 2
First half of the lesson: Make sure you have completed your exhibition introduction before you move onto any extension tasks.  NDV to guide group on work completed and extension tasks.

Second half of the lesson: Exchange sketchbooks and discuss what could be improved, record findings in self assessment sheets - discussing how you could refine.


Plenary: 
Look at the work of Richard Hamilton and discuss next task on the brief: 'create a collage work, which is inspired by Richard Hamilton and based on a news story of your choice'

Homework:
Collect a range of images related to a popular and recent news story or feature of your choice, that means something to you, such as women's rights or the plight of the school girls in Nigeria or maybe gun crime in London, stop and search, floods, commercialism, modern technology, bullying the choice is about you.
