UNIT:45 Charity Poster: Week:1

The aims of this week :
  • To discuss in lesson and record in sketchbooks the requirements of the unit
  • To research early examples of graphic image making
  • To respond to research by experimenting with the materials and techniques employed in early examples of graphic image making
  • To record findings in visual and informative A3 sketchbook pages

LESSON:1
STARTER:10m Intro
NDV to discuss the brief and requirements of the unit

MAIN TASK:40m Illuminated Text Title page


Learners  to produce a title page, using the words: UNIT:45 or U:45 and created in the style of Illuminated Text examples shown in lesson.

PLENARY:10m
Learner voice on any needs, diagnostic assessment of needs.


LESSON:2

STARTER:10m Visual Introduction into cave painting.
What are the images? How are they drawn? With what? Record notes for tomorrows lesson.


MAIN TASK:40m
Using the materials provided, make your own paint, using small amounts of water.  Record your ingredients and quantities for use in tomorrows lesson.

Use the images below to inspire your 'cave paintings' and paint onto a range of different paper surfaces, keeping your paintings simple and small.

Class research on cave painting and Illuminated Text, recorded individually using notes taken in group task, the Metropolitan Museum website, notes taken from lessons and personal responses.

PLENARY:15m
Class feedback on tasks so far and feedback on homework set.

HOMEWORK: Top complete research on early examples of graphic image making, on 2xA3 double pages.

MAIN TASK:40m
Respond by producing boarders and any text to match.

PLENARY:10m
Discuss progression, where am I where am I going?

LESSON:6
STARTER:10m
Discuss your reactions to the movement Art Nouveau and respond by producing boarders and any text to match.

MAIN TASK:40m
Continue to respond by producing central motifs to your art Nouveau designs.

EXTENSION:
Produce Text to match the boarders and central image.  Using Photoshop to combine if needed.

PLENARY:10m
Discuss progression, where am I where am I going?
